Sub: SWAMI VIVEKANANDA YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD

Namaste and Greetings! Trust this finds you in good health. As part of the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad have instituted youth awards called ‘SWAMI VIVEKANANDA YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD' to bring out the strengths of younger generation of India, to create a powerful India, a better India. Swami Vivekananda said: "Arise! Awake for your country needs this tremendous sacrifice. It is the young men that will do it. ‘The young, the energetic, the strong, the well-built, the intellectual'-for them is the task." This is a vigorous initiative in quest of youth who can brainstorm into issues, inspire, and motivate to address the problems that plague our nation. The event is to identify the youth who can think differently and work towards the welfare of the nation.

We laid the foundation for this by setting up of Swami Vivekananda's Centres of Human Excellence in the Colleges of the city. After a remarkable success in that initiative, we decided to expand our horizons and look for our youth leaders within the Senior School students. A student of class 11 or 12 who displays passion, vigor, possesses traits of a leader and has a burning desire to contribute to the betterment of nation will be the ideal candidate for this prestigious award by the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence/Ramakrishna Math. The adage "Catch them young and ignite their minds" is the mantra here.

As a treasure hunt for the best youth leaders for this award, we request you to shortlist your senior school students (max: 10 can participate) and send us the list on or before 29th July'11. The preliminary round will be held on Sat 30th and Sun 31st July'11 at 9.30am in the Institute/Math premises.

The rules for the preliminary round are: 1) On receiving the nominations a booklet "VIVEKANANDA-HIS CALL TO THE NATION" will be provided to each participant. 2) The participant has to study the book thoroughly and prepare for the speech event. 3) Every student will be given 3 minutes to present their thoughts on Swami Vivekananda's message and the leadership qualities he expected from the youth. 4) There will be a cross-fire round wherein the participant has to answer the questions of the judges on the content of his/her speech. 5) The best 6 students will be selected for the 2nd round. 6) The venue of the event is Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence.

It is our sincere request that all students of your school should be made aware of this award and there should be active participation from everyone. This will enable success of the event and will also help in spreading the message of Swami Vivekananda and his vision for a powerful and vibrant India.
